I LOVE TO SPEAK

I'm all about getting an audience thinking and seeing the big picture. Through my presentations I have helped designers, writers and advertising creatives learn the strategies needed to adapt to the future of media. I'm also passionate about teaching creative professionals how to define their "practice," a personal brand which provides direction, purpose and recognition for their work.

RECENT AND UPCOMING ENGAGEMENTS:

    Altitude Design Summit, 2012

    Custom Content Conference, 2011

    Advertising Age Media Evolved, 2010

PRESENTATIONS:
Designing YOU
Have you found that dream job yet? Are you doing work that stems from your personal passions, that fulfills you, teaches you, and helps you continually progress? Most likely not. A survey conducted among creative professionals revealed that more than half mentioned “creative freedom and learning opportunities” as their first priority in selecting a job. Still, most are dissatisfied with their current position. The problem is that designers spend all day creating great brands for others and fail to design great brands for themselves.

Designing YOU is a personal branding presentation specifically for creative professionals. It will reveal clear reasons why agency life can be disheartening and teach how to establish a powerful individual practice based on more than just aesthetics. Audience members will learn how to launch a personal brand or be recognized by their superiors for their thinking as well as their skills.

Design with Emerging Media
The last decade made digital media the champion of design, but the definition of the next decade will be the crossroads between the tangible and the digital. Designing with Emerging Media will reveal future avenues for creative exploration and design that are tangible, environmental, immersive and interactive. The presentation does not focus on web design, but rather “the internet of tangible things.” Examples will be shared that span the gamut of new media from wearable technology to networked environments. Audience members will learn the basic entry points and resources needed to start making, experimenting, and adding a bit of interactivity to their craft.
