JUNO ART INSTALLATION
Assistant in Design & ProductionPROJECT: Assist in the design of an interactive art installation that promotes NASA's JUNO mission.
BACKGROUND: NASA's Juno mission will explore the moons and landscape of Jupiter. Using various instruments, the JUNO spacecraft will peer below the gasious and stormy atmosphere in attempt to learn more than ever about the planet's surface. As part of outreach and artistic exploration, Dan Goods, Visual Strategist at NASA Jet Propulsion Lab creates and displays various installations themed around the mission and aims of NASA. As a designer, I assisted Dan Goods and Austin Lee in various experiments surrounding the project.
RESULT: The installation uses a combination of fog and lights that symbolize Jupiter's surface and the ability to peer at the surface. We experimented with infrared lights that were only visible through the use of a cell phone camera. The installation was featured at a GE convention and at the San Francisco Exploratorium.
